[RC] sage ride manager advice - Cindy Stafford

I know I'm not representative of the majority of riders, but speaking from an inexperienced LD rider (and personal preference only), the rides I have the most fun on have:

pre-ride meeting the night before, with the time on the ride flyer (and kept to).  Please don't suddenly change your mind and have it 15 min before the ride - I want to be able to focus on what you're saying and sitting on a dancing horse doesnt help me do that <g>.

Brief pre-ride meetings, with a concise description of the course for each distance (if course is different for each).  Please don't try to describe them all at once, it gets confusing for feeble brained people like me :)

WELL marked trails, and if the trail dumps out somewhere on a big open field, please please please find a way to keep marking the trail!

If you tell us the night before that the boy scout will point the way to the trail head in the morning, please make sure someone gets the boy scout up LOL!

If water stops are on the trail, please have someone refill during the day.

A flyer available on the net, that describes the trail difficulty, footing and if there will be an away VC and directions to camp please.  There are some rides posted on AERC that don't even call out what state they are in.  And if there will be a controlled start, that's good for some of us to know beforehand too if we're trying to deal with a racebrained horse and avoid rides with group starts.

No dinner for me please, i prefer to do my own.

I won't have a crew, so loops are my favorite.

And i love it when electric pens are allowed.

Thanks for the opportunity to chime in!
