Re: [RC] [RC] [RC] Las Cruces Ride - Clipping ??? - Leonard.Liesens

Hi and Happy New Year to ridecampers,

When watching the photos I didn't see any horse clipped. This is something that I do not understand. Would you guys imagine running a marathon with a duffel coat ? This surely doesn't help the horse to evaporate. It also will not help the horse to dry out at the vetgate.

Me I would have clipped my horse and have plenty of blankets ready at the finish line and play with the layers depending on the horse evaporation and temperature.

For example in october we ran a CEI** 120km in Alsace (France) and temperature was blow zero centigrade; most horses were clipped and we didn't experience cramps or similar problems. The completion rate was very good.

Just my view on the problem

A related problem with the dehydration-From-Cold is that associated

with cold is frozen water tanks. So there is a "tankUp-With-Ice-

Water" factor as well. The infusion of a large mass of 32df water can

cause systemic reactions maybe??
