Re: [RC] [RC] Las Cruces Ride -Alexis - cold - D'Arcy Demianoff-Thompson

I think a lot of people forget how much the cold can dehydrate the muscles.  Even more important to drink lots of fluids and take in electrolytes to replenish fluids for your muscles.  My vet, Dr. Byerly, in Merced, CA, once said, "make sure the ater in the barns are kept at a temperature that won't be too cold for the horses to drink.  Because they will and can drink more water in the coldest part of the winter than most people think."  Dr. Byerly came from a racing background and had plenty of stories about muscles cramps in horses in the winter.
