RE: [RC] Pres Cup question ??? - Mary Visco

Title: The fact that you don’t know Fred Emigh or know of him amazes me

The fact that you don’t know Fred Emigh or know of him amazes me. Oh well you may not know who the Beatles are either. I’m getting old. Fred has been riding endurance for 25 plus years. He is a legend in the sport. He has won more rides with horses in great shape and gotten more BC awards than most of us have ridden rides. He has also trained hundreds of horses for other people who have done very well with them. Fred has done over 25 years of grueling races. He has ridden with a fractured arm, fractured neck and many other maladies that would make a lesser person stay away from horses forever. I don’t know anyone tougher. He is extremely courageous and very patient with his horses. I also don’t know of anyone who puts the horse first more than Fred. Not only is he an incredible rider but he always rides extremely smart, controlled rides and always finishes in the position that is best for the horse that he is riding. And at the end of a grueling 100 miler Fred is still riding in perfect form. You asked if he’s paid his dues by riding a tough 2 years. Fred rode when endurance riding was really tough over 25 years ago and continues to ride and do very well for himself today. Fred is also a friend that will go to the ends of the earth to help a horse or a friend. I know of no-one who deserves to compete in this race more than Fred Emigh. Maybe you or your horse will have the privilege of meeting him someday. Congratulations Fred!!!!

Subject: [RC] Pres Cup question ???

Who is    Frederick Moser Emigh ?   He is listed as riding for the US.   I looked in the aerc records and do not find his name.   Does anyone know him ?  Which region does he ride in ?
Has he gone thru the tough 2 years of our selection process to earn him a spot to ride for the USA overseas?  Can anyone who just shows up overseas get to ride for the USA?

Did he win the Old Dominion,  Tevis, or the AERC NC to earn him this honored spot among elite riders in the US?   What happed to the other riders who undertook time money heart and guts to ride for the "US -   how come,   Jeremy, Betty, John, Joe just to name a few were not there riding for the US?     Just curious
