And we got our clocks clean in Germany and in France and in the UAE in the WEC. The point is the times are coming down and the bar is going up and our program is not responding. The fastest I'd seen recorded before was a little over 7 hours. Now they just shaved another five percent off that. If may not be long till they are at 6. We aren't competing on the international level and I don't think we have a prayer as long as our international is still tied in with the AERC especially as long as FEI is pushing international competition the direction they are pushing it. They need to get serious, find a new home, secure their own funding and make it happen. If they don't the US will continue to be also rans at the WEC. That was my point.

Remember, THIS race is not the WEC. Last year, the WEC in  Aachen was won by
Miguel Vila Ubach  on Hungares in a time of 9:12:27.  In 2005 it was held in
the UAE  (over those flat, groomed courses) and the first to finish was
Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan Al Nahyan on Hachim  in a time of 7hr and 3min. But
in 2000, in France, the WEC was won by  Maya Killa Peringérard on  Varoussa
in 9 hrs. 32 min.

I'm not sure you can compare many other races (yes, races, not rides) to
those held in the UAE on those man made fairly flat courses, built for
speed.

Whole different sport in my book.
