Hello Jennifer,
The frame around the gate is not letting the chain link fencing get 
down far enough even with a tire on it. What worked better for me was 
a single heavy pipe connected to the mower with a rectangular piece 
of chain link fence connected to the pipe and several pieces of heavy 
chain on the fencing. That way the whole mess can flex and fit the 
shape of the ground better. Also go slow and it won't bounce over the 
squashed manure so much.
