[RC] [RC] barefoot and boots - Dream Weaver

Hi Moriah:

To answer your questions.

Yes you can just put boots on just when you ride.
There are several boots that work - I like Epics and Bares the best myself. Bares are good on hinds, and Epics on fronts.
Adjustment time varies depending on the horse. You should do several training rides to get a feel for it.
It is important to get a good fit, the better fit you have the less likely you are to have problems.
Yes, they work great in snow. Studs can be added if going over ice but for most endurance rides I wouldn't recommend them.
Other problems - those are things you should be able to work out on training rides. Most problems are fit issues and other things that can be remedied.

I'll just point you to this link, which is the page that lists the current 2007 hoof boot contest results and those that have entered the contest this year. So far we have 79 entries. The page isn't completely up to date, I have riders who did the 100 at 20 MT and other rides to add to it. These riders are all riding in boots over unshod horses. http://www.easycareinc.com/Cool_Stuff/2007_Results.aspx I've also got a blog that has a lot of tips and photos on using the boots. Plus lots of other horse related topics. http://easycareinc.typepad.com/karen/ You can also email me anytime if you have questions. :)
