[RC] horse welfare - Normanjudyv

I,ve seen lots of horses over ridden at endurance rides. Riders get away with it, some get pulled, some don,t, they get rewarded for winning. I sold a lovely little gelding to a very nice person a few years ago, she claimed to love him. Then she got the bug to win, she ran him into the ground and he died. It was all written up in EN, nothing happened, just one of many. The vets do a good job but they don,t call anyone aside and say, don,t you think you should slow down. Just because you love the sport doesn,t mean it,s perfect. I loved the sport, still do, I saw things that made me cringe. Like people throwing cold water on a very hot horse on a very cold day, cantering a poor tired horse uphill etc. What can you say, sometimes it was a friend. Face the facts. jvm
