[RC] [RC] Ground Control Shoes - Dream Weaver

I've been thinking about going barefoot with boots. Then I found these awesome shoes. I like them much better than metal shoes. Probably not as good as barefoot...

Hmmm ... ?

I used them for a year on Chief and they worked very well for him.  I never had any of the problems that others have reported with them.  I think they are definitely better than metal shoes if they work for your horse.  If they don't there are lots of other options in plastic shoes.

I got tired of picking rocks out of them, and I had to shoe more often as we tended to wear them out.  We were doing a lot of multidays, and you really shouldn't do more than 5 to 7 days of 50's in them on rocky trails, they got too thin and then picked up rocks.   Chief also moves around several miles a day and that put a lot of wear on them even if he wasn't being ridden.

I would say that if I ever had to shoe again I'd use Ground Controls, but now that I'm into my third year of competing without shoeing the horses I think the chance of that ever happening is slim.  :)  I wasn't sure it would work, and figured I'd prove it couldn't work.  It just didn't work out that way - ha - I just had to see for myself, and in the end it was a good decision.  It's definitely been a positive change for the horses.
