[RC] LD RACING/RIDING - Ginger Bill

HI! I'VE BEEN WITH ENDURANCE FOR MANY YEARS AND THIS WAS WAY BEFORE THE LD WAS SANCTIONED. EVERYTIME I HEAR THAT THE LD IS NOT A RACE, I KIND OF CHUCKLE TO MYSELF BECAUSE, OF COURSE IT'S A RACE, BECAUSE YOU'RE UP AGAINST THE CLOCK. THE COMMENT "THIS IS NOT A RACE" IS A DOUBLE EDGED SWORD AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE LD COMMITTEE. I, MYSELF RATHER RIDE 50s FOR SEVERAL REASONS AND ONE, WHICH BEING, AS I HAVE MORE TIME TO COMPLETE A RIDE WITHOUT A SPRINT. I KNOW, YOU GUYS WILL COME BACK AT ME WITH A VENGANCE, BUT BY PUTTING A FIVE HOUR OR LESS TIME LIMIT FOR 25s DOESN'T MAKE IT A WALK IN THE PARK BY ANY MEANS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE MILES ARE EXTENDED. NOW, SOMEONE WILL SAY 25 MILERS HAVE SIX HOURS TO COMPLETE, BUT WITH HOLDS, THEY DO NOT ANYMORE THAN 50 MILERS HAVE TWELVE TO COMPLETE. SOME WILL SAY THAT THE LD IS TO PREPARE FOR ENDURANCE. NOT SO, AS MORE OFTEN THAN NOT THE LD MEMBERS WOULD JUST LIKE TO TAKE IT EASY AND TRULY ENJOY THE RIDE. IF WE REALLY WANT TO DISCOURAGE RACING FOR THE LD, THEN FORGET THE CLOCK OR GIVE THEM A MORE COMFORTABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO COMPLETE.
