[RC] Sores in horses' mouths! - Diagnosed - sherman

The hay is a grassy alfalfa, grown by a farmer in the Yuba City/Marysville area of northern CA. In researching  watergrass, it looks like it likes rice fields and there are a few of those in the area. My friend has located the last of a ton of teff hay to feed the horses at home. She has 5 tons of the grassy alfalfa, but fortunately has cows that can eat it safely, and the horses on the 60 acres have only a very minor problem with the watergrass, so they can continue eating the grassy alfalfa.

What kind of hay was it in?  And from where?
