[RC] HELP - sores in horses' mouths! - sherman

Fortunately not my horses, but today my friend has discovered bloody ulcers in all her horses’ mouths, inside the lips. There is no debris from foxtails or hay, and the horses are at two different locations, miles apart, but getting the same hay, grass/alfalfa. Any ideas?  She flushed their mouths with a mild warm salt water solution and they seem to appreciate that, but she is stumped as to the cause, just assuming it must be something in the hay.

Susan? Heidi? Or anyone else ever experience this type of (possible) toxicity?

Email directly as ridecamp isn’t archiving and I only get the digests.  sherman at usamedia dot tv

Thanks,
