Re: [RC] You know you're an EQ when... - Lynne Glazer

LOL--as if real event riders (certainly not DQ or EQ) don't care about the colors in their turnout?! That they do doesn't make them pansies IMO.

It's certainly harmless having color coordinated tack--now if that would extend to color coordinated rider attire, my ride photos would certainly be prettier like the cross country event photos.

But yeah, using things till they break (like zippers and worn out velcro) and then using hay string to keep 'em going, that's certainly an endurance rider characteristic. Faded pommel/cantle bags are a sign of experience.

I'll bet no endurance horse goes without the nutritional essentials and fripperies just because their rider likes sartorial splendor! ;-)

Besides, it keeps the endurance tack vendors going, so they're there when we need 'em, especially at rides when that patched together piece of gear finally gives up the ghost.

This sounds very much like something a "Dressage Queen" (DQ) would say. To me, this would be a sign that the person has stopped being an endurance rider and has become an EQ instead.

Real endurance riders don't care about the color of their
tack and don't
replace it until it has become non-functional...and
often, not even
then, if it can be "fixed" with some baling twine.
