(d) SORREL: body color reddish or copper-red; mane and tail
usually same color as body, but may be flaxen.

(e) CHESTNUT: body color dark red or brownish-red; mane
and tail usually dark red or brownish-red, but may be flaxen

Yep , that's always been the description in my neck of the woods , here in Montana anyway . The first time I registered an arab foal I could not believe that my bright red sorrel filly was to be registered as a chestnut ? I had never heard of that before but than I grew up on QH's . I found it very interesting .
