[RC] riding/running question - Nancy Sturm

I'm glad Cindy and David got off on this discussion of comparing 5K's and
LD's with 10 K's and 50's.

When I was running, which I admit was quite a while back, I did much better
and was closer to being competitive in the longer distances. A 5K was a
killer because the other runners were finished before I'd even found my
stride. Ten K's were better, but half marathons were the best distance.
This first three miles or so of any training run were always miserable, the
last mile or so of a ten mile run was heaven.

So: I'm riding limited distance because I'm not sure I can complete 50.
Any chance there's be a paralel to the running and 50 would actually be
easier?

Nancy
