[RC] Sultan's Cup - John TeeterWe are 5 hours from the start of the ride here in Malaysia. The starters list has been announced (http://www.malaysia-wec.com/ sultanscup.html) All horses which were presented at the vet-in were deemed ready to go by the team of international Vets. Leonard Liesens of Belgium did not present as his horse, Kiria, developed a high temperature the night b/f vet-in and is being treated with antibiotics. Also one horse from the UAE did not present due to lameness following the travel to Malaysia.Spirits are high and the attitude is one of camaraderie I think. The event is being viewed as the final step in a long process of proving that endurance in the tropics is a doable thing. a 40% completion rate of the invited international riders is necessary for the FEI to give final approval for the 2008 FEI World Endurance Championship to be held here at the Terengganu International Endurance Park (TIEP). While there is also the urge to be first to finish, all competitors are well aware of the need for a solid ride to achieve this completion rate. So, with 18 invited riders starting, 8 must complete for a successful test. There is to be a live video feed (along with selected video clips) available during the event and the international audience will also be able to follow the position of the riders dynamically presented in real time.
