[RC] Reducing the waistline - rides2far

Well Susan, since you are a mere shadow of your old self, maybe 7 can get
some advice from you. :-)

To reduce the bloat. I have Orchard Grass, Coastal & Alfalfa. Should he
get all grass hay for lower calories or grass/alfalfa for calories with
less bulk? Right now he gets about a cup and a half of Omalene 100 (so
he won't feel left out) a flake of alfalfa and a flake of orchard grass
morning & evening. He *got* his belly this summer when I kept coastal in
front of him every minute of every day. I was looking over a half door at
him monitoring the covering of his spine with meat...should have opened
the door and focused my eyes on the belly!

Rode him again today and just love him. He's confident, no foolishness,
brisk walk and willing to lead. No hint of buck (knock wood) at walk or
trot ridden or when ponied at a gallop. Sweet, cute, just a good
personality. Didn't even spook when I rode him on a rediculously windy
day!!! So far this experiment with starting a 7 year old says it's a good
thing.

Angie
