Re: [RC] [RC] Thank you for the heater questions - Maryanne Gabbani

I recall camping at Loveland Pass (10 thou feet) in early spring with my family when I was about 14. My sister and I got the tent outside where it was snowing and we took the family dog with us, a Great Dane. A 14 yr old, a 9 yr old, and a relatively small (thank heaven) Great Dane CAN fit in one sleeping bag and are amazingly warm there. We had to be dug out of a foot of snow in the morning.

My Egyptian pack are such weenies that as soon as the night temps drop below 20 C (about 68 F) the terriers, Dalmation, Sloughi and Dane are all begging to be let in bed under the covers. I can understand the Sloughi who carries negative body fat I suspect, but honestly the rest of them.......

Funny that you mentioned that!  I tried a "tactical whippet" (whippet hidden
inside my sleeping bag) several years ago, and that worked perfectly.

Myself and the dog had about the same percentage body fat and just weren't
dealing with the 38-degree temperatures well.  The trick worked like a
charm.

Alas, I no longer have that sweet (although stupid) little whippet and our
two inbred, redneck country dogs don't do too well in sleeping bags...
