Re: [RC] Thank you for the heater questions - Stacy Sadar

Oh I can vouch for that one!
Was at a ride and the owners of a horse with their generator on did not hear their horse struggling.  I'm a light sleeper for the reason Barbara mentioned and heard the horse.  Go out and find that the horse had been tied to long and ended up wrapping the rope around his leg four times, stuck between two trees and can't/won't get up.  What was worse was the horse brought the whole tie line down with 8 other horses tied to it!  We fixed it in the middle of the night.  The horse finally got up and the owners went home with it.

Owners never heard it because of the generator on all night.  AND that dang generator kept many of US up all night too!  I'm a big proponent of no generators between certain hours.

One problem with the generators is that they muffle the sounds of the critters getting into mischief after the humans have retired.  We sleep in the back of our truck with a camper shell (and down comforters).  While Doug is snoozing away, I generally lie there listening, listening.  Horses do tattle on each other, and I want to be able to hear it and take quick action.
