[RC] "Safe" forages for horses - Beth Leggieri

I live in north Texas which is coastal bermuda country (or alfalfa if you're feeding a halter horse!), and until last year's drought we had plenty of it to go around.  Then the feed stores started trucking in grasses from wherever they could find them, forages with which I was totally unfamiliar in terms of nutritional percentages and contents.

The feed store guys were less than helpful, saying "yes, it's higher in protein than coastal" and that was about the extent of what they knew.  The following site has been very helpful to me in learning which are the safer forages  to feed horses who are prone to various conditions.
