[RC] edema & riding - Karla Watson

When a horse has a cut on a leg (side of knee) and it makes a bit edema below/around it, no lameness or pain, is it good to ride them or not? I have always heard riding them will bring that edema down and is good but then others say not to. Its probably a case by case thing but if the cut is not near tendons or knees or anything that would cause problems?
