RE: [RC] NATRC/AERC crossovers - Katrina Mosshammer

Don't get me wrong, like I said I have no desire to do CTR just as I'm sure there are CTR people that have no desire to do endurance. Everybody has their own preferences. Some enjoy doing both. That said, the horses that are successfully completing CTRs should have no problem successfully completing endurance (notice I did not say winning). That doesn't meant they have to. That's the nice thing about having both, people can choose to do which ever they prefer. Just don't think it is not possible to do both successfully. The way I see it is CTR and endurance are two circles that partially overlap. You will have some that prefer one over the other and then you will have those that do enjoy both.

here’s pictures from a ctr this past weekend.  At a popular place for endurance rides.  Out of 50 riders I would think less than 10 have even done an LD.  Maybe 5 have done a 50 or would even think of it.  I know one pictured has done tevis.  And the gal taking the pictures did it also has done the tevis.

So looking at these pictures do you see ‘endurance riders’?  or equine suitable to switch hit to true endurance?

Like I said it’s different in different areas of the country.  Maybe since I do about 10 CTRs a year, manage 2, and do other events too it’s where my focus is.  ??

I find more CTR riders come from show ‘arenas’ than from pleasure trail, except MFTs.  More and more from Paints, Apps and QH.
