RE: [RC] [R - Gerald Williams

Unfortunately I just had a horse colic and he had to be put down. While he
was hurting I massaged his stomach on whatever side he was laying, or is
that lying? He became very relaxed and I think it felt very good to him. We
think it was impaction or twisted intestine so we could not save him. [We do
not have the $5000 it would take at UC Davis]. The other thing that I was
wondering is what other people do with the body. It was $295 for the
rendering company to pick him up. It kills me to do that but we only have 8
acres and I think it is against the law to bury them. He was such a
beautiful boy, an Overlook Farwa son.

I agree Dick! I have used her methods for over 20 yrs. Recently, I got out
my old books and cards and reviewed them to "mess with" my new 4 yr old. He
loves the body work! He had no issues, so this is just icing on the cake,
but I do believe he will trust me more as a result of having done this work
on him. He stands loose in the pasture to let me do it.

One nice thing too, is if you ever get into trouble with the horse, and need

to bring his heart rate down, move him through a colic situation, etc..they
are used to the work, and relax into it..

Have you been aware of the Linda Tellington Jones method of teaching a
horse to
be more aware of the handler. Look it up as we have had good luck using
her
methods.
