RE: [RC] Rider's uneven seat bones - Karen Standefer

Chiropractic and physical therapy (including massage therapy) helped me to
balance my lower body. I had the same problem. Stretching psoas muscles,
piriformis muscles and strengthening the abdomen and hip flexors really,
really helped. Of course, my horse having the same problem I have
(partially due to hoof conformation and partially due to an injury), it
makes it a real challenge for us. But we're better this year than last :-)

It's an ongoing maintenance issue just like the imbalances in the horse.
Find what works for you and your horse and then just keep working on it.

BTW, I first went to a top notch Sports Medicine Dr. (Dr. Carolyn Marquardt
in Bellevue, WA) for a diagnosis of what was actually out of balance. Then
she wrote prescriptions to the support therapists for their individual
therapies.

Subject: [RC] Rider's uneven seat bones

I've been doing detective work trying to figure out why my horse's back
is sore, mostly on the right and it seems it could be because my hips
are mis-aligned. If I put my hands under my seat bones sitting on a
chair I feel more weight and bone mass on the right. I currently ride a
BM saddle and have been working with Tom at Skito trying different pads
to try and figure this out. I ride as balanced as I possibly can but
wonder if anyone has had the same problem and how they solved it.

Barbara
