As a stanch opponent of horse slaughter I can assure you it 
has nothing to do with whether folk "eat" them but how they 
are treated through the process...I continue to work to eliminate
this particular method of dumping horses; one horse at a time.

So, taking Rebecca's idea, how could the network of horse rescue people
implement a local humane euthanasia and disposal service that would
be *lots* less expensive than the cost of having the vet come and
do it, plus the cost of hiring a backhoe?  And still meet local
public health laws?
