[RC] Equi-ade and drinking more - Beth Walker

As long as we are on the subject of getting horses to drink -- I'm trying a new (for me) product called "Equi-ade". It is orange- flavored electrolytes that are dissolved in a bucket of water. Instructions are to use it post-ride.

It *does* contain sodium bicarbonate -- when I asked them about this, they said it was a minimal amount, and the overall PH of the resulting drink was still slightly acidic. When mixed up, it produces about a 0.9% sodium content solution.

I've tried it once so far (then sent some samples), after a short trail ride. My fellow did drink some of it . I also offered him plain water along with the equi-aid, and he didn't want that at all. Looks like it might actually help him drink on those hot days when **I** think he needs to drink more than **he** does. :)

Anybody else have any experience or comments about Equi-ade?
