Re: [RC] [RC] Best sponge - Dawn Carrie

Ahhh...the great sponge quest!  <G>  Natural sea sponges hold the most water, but they take awhile to get soaked...you need to remember to pre-wet them before the ride.  Otherwise the first few dunks are just to get them saturated.  I finally solved the sponge situation by putting a natural sea sponge *and* a piece of a synthetic carwashing sponge in my sponge bag.  Works great...I get some water with the first toss, and when I squeeze that first sponge-full, it saturates my natural sponge, and I get LOTS of water with each subsequent toss.  As for a sweatscraper to remove the water after sponging it on, I just use my hand.

I am trying to figure out the best sponge to use and method to cool my horse and lower the heartrate.  Also, what kind of sweat scraper to use.  Any tips?  Carla
