Re: [RC] Minerals/Salt...Susan G?? - Patty P

I have also seen this a lot. (Over the years I have raised/rescued over 200 horses.) When bringing a new horse home from auction, some of them ate so much of the block that I had to limit their exposure to it... for fear their systems were so starved that their senses were out of whack...I was afraid they might over do it and get sick.  Others wanted nothing to do with it. The Arab I am riding now, wants nothing to do with the block or any form of salt what so ever, He will, however share a bag of salty pretzels sticks with me. :))

I don't believe those are all minerals...I think there's something horses love to EAT that's bonding them into the block form. I bought one of those blocks once and they ate the whole thing in a few days like it was candy...but I have also offered free choice mineral supplement and they weren't interested.  Susan G...what do you say?
