[RC] Leg Protection - Tammy Shuck

Hi, I am finally coming to the conclusion that maybe we need some kind of leg protection. I train in a very rocky area and a lot of the rides we attend are rocky. My geldings legs are starting to get quite a few battle scars. I am not looking for any kind of support, just protection. Can anyone recommend something. What kind of material works best. I am most concerned about heat buildup and rubbing. Also do you slap them on at the start of a ride and leave them or do you take them off at VC's and clean the legs. Do they let you go through a VC with them on? I guess I havent really been paying attention to what people who use them do.
Thanks,
Tammy
