[RC] Important reminder!!! - Sharon LevasseurI just got a call from a landowner whose property the Hot Toddy Hustle trail crosses. He was calling to tell me that he will allow us to use his trail again this year. BUT he empatically added that last year he was on a neighboring property that is owned by a Land Trust when he saw some riders "gallop their 2000-3000# horses blindly three or four abreast around corners at 40 miles an hour, and nearly wiping out people who were walking with baby strollers and dogs". He said that he would deny us access to his property in the future if he saw or heard about any of our riders doing something like this. Now, you and I all know that our 1000#-ish horses aren't galloping any faster than maybe 20mph ... and that they are far more likely TROTTING at less than 15mph, but we all need to be aware that WHAT I QUOTED ABOVE MAY BE THE PUBLIC'S PERCEPTION. It really gets my goat that he says he has NO problems with how the horses / riders behaved on HIS property, yet is threatening me with denied access to his property if, in HIS PERCEPTION, any of the riders behave unsafely on any of the rest of the trail. But that's not the point I'm trying to make... I'm just doing a public service announcement, a reminder that we are not the only ones out there on the trails. DO NOT race around blind corners. GIVE WAY to other trail users. In short, be safe and BE CONSIDERATE!!!
