Re: [RC] The "Q" in Dr Q - Sisu West Ranch

"..."Q" stands for Quackenbush..."

Here I thought that it stood for "H. M. Quackenbush Company" About 100 years ago, Mr. H. M. Quackenbush invested in automated equipment to produce those nut crackers that everyone has. The ones that are chrome plated, have a flat hinge, and legs with complicated designs. He effectively cornered the market, and you can tell his product by the "HMQ" on the flat hinge.

I was dismayed a few years ago when I noticed that the HMQ was no longer on the ones for sale in my Supermarket. Apparently he could not compete with China.

The only other product I am sure that company ever made was the "Quackenbush Safety Rifle". It was a cheap .22 rifle for the 10 year old boy market. I have only seen one, and that was on display at the Royal Armoury in the Tower of London. (That collection is now in Leeds, UK and well worth the trip).
