Re: [RC] Morgans in need - Sky Ranch

As Paddi said, the most important thing *at this point* is the welfare of
the horses. That said, many things can lead to mares being bred
accidentally. I myself had two young mares bred, by accident, when a
neighbor's stallion - who lived 4 miles away - jumped THREE fences and got
into our pasture. There was nothing I could to to prevent this, our fences
were 5 feet high, the unregistered appaloosa stallion jumped ALL the fences
and I found him with our horses chasing them around at 6 a.m. Was I
unhappy? Yes....is an understatement.

That's not to say that is what happened in this case, but *please* don't
jump to conclusions. Anyone can get into a severe bind, the first step is
to help the horses, and the people who need help, regardless of why or how.
Please help if you can.

Subject: [RC] Morgans in need

The real sad thing here, is that if it's been going on for three years,
WHY are these mares pregnant? Surely, this owner has realized that she/he's
been in over their heads for several years? Why would they just blindly
keep adding to the overload?

I've just seen too MANY breeders just keep on breeding, while their stock
slowly starves to death over many years. Then they beg for help, get some,
then later start breeding again. Eventually ending up in the same situation
again-and-again...

Are there no laws to prosecute this person for this long-term neglect?
