Re: [RC] What's she worth - Karen Everhart

The money in the meat sales in Europe and Japan, etc., is incredible.  Then the company operates at a virtual tax loss here and is protected as "foreign commerce".......so "yes".  It is a BIG business and, because horses are not regulated as a food animal here, they can buy horse flesh very cheaply - .30 - ..50 a pound.  To buy horse flesh in the countries where horses are eaten is very expensive as the various medications (bute) and antibiotics and dewormers and hormones (Regumate) are STRICTLY regulated and documented for horses which go into the food chain.  So it costs a TON more to produce "clean" horses so they buy our dirty (read medicated) horses and send them over for the unsuspecting consumers.

So as of June 29th they are shut down again?

I can't believe how much legal wrangling they have been doing to stay "open".  Is there really that much $ in the industry to fund all the lawyers?
