Re: [RC] What's she worth - steelsidedown

That sound great ... but at the same time the gov't is helping cause the problem ... farm tax credits for producing two foals per year.

The Humane Society is working toward getting shipments of horses for slaughter banned altogether- and to make it illegal to transport them out of the US.  I know there is a lot of controversy over this issue, but if there is no market to "dispose" of them so easily, maybe people will stop breeding so many without thinking carefully about it?  There are also more horse rescues appearing on the scene. Anyone interested can get e-mail updates from the Humane Society of the United States.  (They're also working on banning "Puppy Mills, which is great news)  People in Cambodia and some other middle eastern countries eat dogs, but we aren't butchering dogs and sending them over there to be eaten.
