RE: [RC] Fires and the environment - Katrina Mosshammer

Controlled fires DO serve this purpose. That's why the forestry dept, conservation dept, etc. do them occasionally. It's the uncontrollable ones that cause more problems than good.

Isn't fire necessary to the life cycles of some plant species? I mean, isn't it required to make them sprout, or seed, or take some particular step in their life cycle?
