[RC] Kudzu - Anne HeilgeistI well remember the prolific kudzu when I lived in California. According to this article, sheep will eat kudzu: http://www.kudzuworld.com/Kudzu/Archive/HungrySheep.pdf And, according to this page of the same site http://www.kudzuworld.com/FAQS/Kudzu/index.EN.aspx, cows and goats eat it too. This more official site (the National Park Service) also states "livestock" will eat it. http://www.nps.gov/plants/alien/fact/pumo1.htm But I haven't found any links with specific details regarding the nutritional content of kudzu...but, forage is forage. During World War II the British were reduced to feeding their horses shredded paper for forage. That and the necessary supplements kept
the horses well fed. Offer some to your horse...see if they'll eat it. And please let me know. I'm in Maryland and hay is only about $5.00 a bale but information about other sources of forage for my horses would be helpful...especially when I travel south.
