Re: [RC] cinchy horse - rides2far

I have a friend who recentlt purchased a 9 year old mare from an
auction, the previous owner told him she was "cinchy."

I know there are many horses that truly have a problem being cinchy, but
I've also seen several that were made that way by people who were
convinced they had to tighten the girth as tight as humanly possible
every time they got on a horse. Gunner was a little cinchy when I got
him, just looked like he was talking to himself, flapping the lip,
thought of nipping, etc. After just a month or so of slow tightening and
riding with a snug girth but not over tightened he stopped all that and
is as relaxed about it as any horse I've had. I've seen *big* men tighten
up a girth with everything they had. One poor mare just stood there and
finally fell over refusing to move until it was removed.

On the "not so obvious" cause thread...took Gunner to an acupuncture vet
day before yesterday and she went over him checking "diagnostic points".
One of them was running her finger along the cinch area and asking me if
he was "cinchy". These are points they use to diagnose problems in other
areas, but I'm not sure what area that one was for. Could be a lower leg
or something far from there.
