[RC] The OD - final riders for the top ten are in - auriga79

At approximately 3:20AM Bob Walsh (OD V-Pres) and Paul Sidio (our lone Cavalry
rider) came across the finish line to cheers and applause. They finished 9th
and 10th respectively. Paul was absolutely on cloud nine -- he'd agonized over
the extreme difficulty of riding in the Cavalry division yesterday before the
ride, but after lots of encouragment he moved from the 50 into the 100... and
took the plunge.

As his talented horse trotted (sans lead -- he trots out to a clap of Paul's
hands) finished the final vet check for the 100 mile completion, and more
cheers and applause. To say Paul was merely elated would have been a total
understatement. He says he's going to sleep like a log -- with his alarm clock
in his pocket. Even now he's still "riding cavalry" up until tomorrow at 8AM
when he has to present his horse for the Cavalry check -- his horse has to be
fit to continue, just like the cavalry horses of the past. His horse looked
good -- ears up and perked, still ready to roll. I don't think he's going to
sleep a wink for the excitement of joining that elite group who have ridden the
OD with absolutely no help at all, carrying all their own equipment the entire
way -- no crews, no drop bags, no nothing. All he was allowed to be given
throughout the ride was water.

Only 4 hours to go to present. Our fingers are crossed!
