Re: [RC] Breast plate lights - Truman Prevatt

I've had two incidents - both in daylight - where my horse has gone right over the top of a snake. Once it was a rattler and once it was a cotton mouth. The trying like hell to get out of the way but just didn't make it. The were sure not there in the middle of the trail saying "come on buddy - let's rumble they were on their way." I suspect in both cases the deep sand right before we got to them softened out hoof beats and they didn't feel us coming till we were almost there.

In general they will be long gone before you get there. As far as the horse knowing a snake is across the trail - twice mine has cantered right over the top of two. I watched as it unfolded.

Trust your horse. Chances are, they will know a snake is across the desert trail before you could react. And as mentioned, I'd bet when they felt the hoof beats heading towards them, they'd scoot off the trail / road. On a full moon night, you would not need any light, to be able to see the ground well.
