[RC] Lost Padres Ride - Peggy B-Smith

Got back yesterday from the 2-day 100 Lost Padres ride in CA. What a terrific ride. Ann & Dave Nicholson did a great job of marking the trail and we had wonderful food the whole weekend. The campsite had plenty of room, was easy to get to and park in. Lots of water on the trail and I don't think you could get lost, it was so well marked, even with the trails crossing a number of times.

The first loop of each day was pretty hard, at least the first half of it. We did the same two loops in the opposite direction the next day, but the trail was so beautiful, it was fun doing it again. This is a working cattle ranch, so lots of gates to open and close!  This ride will be known to me from now on as the "Gate Ride!" I'm still picking foxtails out of everything, but a small price to pay to ride here!

My horse, LP Dalite, did great, and for the first time after completing day 2, I felt like I could actually have ridden another 50. Guess it might be time for a one-day 100! She was stronger on day 2 and better than day 1, so she seems to be ready for a longer ride, too.

We are so lucky in the PS and West regions to have so many great places to ride and so many rides to chose from -  from the desserts to the mountains and sometimes a little of both.
