[RC] trimming easy boot epics - sherman

I’d see if the straps and heels rub before cutting them down. I use easyboots on 4 different horses, none of them are bothered by the heels or straps. The gaiters are a problem for 3 of the horses, they do get rubs from them, even with vet wrapping. I’ve started using Shoe Goo for conditioning rides (instead of the gaiters) and will use EasyFoam on my upcoming 2 days of 50s.

I just bought 2 more epics --now have a set. One half is newer easyboots I just bought gaiters for with the heel already cut down and a set with the gaiters not trimmed down . My horse is barefoot (has very hard, feet, thick walls and nice concavity to begin with.) I am wondering if I should cut the straps and heels and fronts a bit of the new ones--- or put the whole set on while riding in arena and see what happens. ---- Course you can always buy more heel straps. I have an extra set... but once you cut the heel down....

I'm getting ready to experiment with Epics for my horse. There is tons of

great information written by Karen on easycares site. What I'm trying to

determine is if I should trim the back of the boot/heel strap as suggested

in Karen's directions, or if that is only necessary for standard easy boots

without the gaitor. I can't determine if the trimming is recommended just to

decrease the risk of the horse pulling a boot (which would be negated by the

gaitor that covers that same area), or also to reduce the chance of rubbing.
