[RC] Enduranace Reporting - rides2far

My ideal would be: Peter Gammons does Endurance.

Ok, I googled Peter Gammons and even read some of his reports. I haven't
had any television stations at all for 14 years so I'm a little behind on
broadcasters. >G< I think endurance is a bit different than reporting
baseball since you are describing baseball games to *fans* not other
players in the league. If he wrote strictly for other players he might
tell it a little differently.

Generally, if I write for endurance news, or endurance.net I am talking
to other people who participate in *this* sport and can assume a lot of
background knowledge.. If I write for the Chronicle of the Horse I write
a little differently because it's a more varied audience and I can't
assume they understand how a ride works.

You won't see criticism, or derogatory comments against competitiors in
my reporting because you really *need to know the facts* before you
damage someone's name. Bad stuff can happen to good people and you can't
jump to conslusions. You *can* however praise those whose horses looked
great which is generally what I do. Even when I do know "the story" on
someone who did something out of line, I probably heard it from someone
who heard it from someone, and that's not the kind of stuff you report.
That's gossip.

It's difficult to report info like which horses are coming into the ride
with a recent lameness problem or something like that that they might
mention on Kentucky Derby coverage because our rider is worried about
getting pulled and isn't going to put any ideas into anyone's mind about
what might be wrong with their horse. Also, the only way to make money at
this game is to sell your horse so problems its had aren't going to be
revealed to you; and it's not like you can go watch them work their
horses in Spring Training to see how they're coming along. :-)

How do you all feel about Best Condition judging stats? Would vet scores
being published be of interest or just cause a lot of people to get
defensive?
