Considering the fact that one of the most nuclear/radioactive places on earth (Chernobyl) is absolutely TEEMING with all forms of wildlife, nuclear waste may not be as dangerous to "everything else" as one might originally think.

Current thinking on why Chernobyl is teeming with wild life suggests
that it has something to do with the fact that the place has been (due
to its radioactivity) deserted by humans. It would seem that
radioactivity isn't as dangerous to "everything else" as human activity.

Indeed, the "nuclear waste" problem is largely a red herring, a boogey man used to scare people about nuclear power. The vast majority of what is classified as "nuclear waste" from power plants is low-level stuff, you could fill your basement with it and have no more exposure than you would get from a few airline trips across the country each year. The actually dangerous stuff is surprisingly small, AIUI you could pile all of it that's been produced around the world so far in one football stadium.
