Re: [RC] [RC] Fwd: [RC-Digest] Vol: 03.4848 - Maryanne Gabbani

Easy!!! Dubai.  LOL They have no huge weather variations, just hot and hotter, sandy and sandier. No huge elevation changes. Everyone who wants to compete in the WEC will just have to move to Disneyland On The Gulf.

For International competition, however, in order to produce a POOL of

horses and riders who can actually PARTICIPATE in WEC's and such around the

world, perhaps the modified CoC time is a (gentle?) nudge at endurance

communities around the world who believe that "To Finish Is To Win" to

now "get onboard" and speed things up back "home".

Speed things up?  I doubt it is the lack of fast horses in the US that is the problem, more like the

lack of fast courses!  The course record for the Vermont 100 is 12 hours and many of the best have tried

to break that.  Weather conditions have rendered even our "fast" courses so difficult that obtaining a CoC

under the old standard of 13:20 was impossible (Biltmore, Pine Tree, Fort Howes).  So now the question is

where are the FEI rides to qualify in 10:40 going to be held?????
