[RC] re: first 100 miler - Cindy Collins

Kyle: No one can tell you whether or not your horse is ready, BUT I suggest
you put more weight in experienced endurance riders' (look up their records on
AERC site) opinions. A horse that's been doing 50s successfully "should" be
able to do a 100 miler. I have successfully completed 100 milers as a horse's
first ever endurance ride and as their second ride (after 1 50 miler). These
horses went on to have successful careers with no problems. Hate to say "in
the old days" cause there's so much disdain for those of us who started 25+
years ago, BUT many horses back then started with 100 milers cause that's all
there was. Sounds like your horse has a good base, but you know the horse
better than anyone else. Good luck!
