[RC] OCD - Diane Day

I have a yearling colt that has been diagnosed with OCD. Not obsessive compulsive disorder but Osteochondroysis Dessicans. I am wanting to know if anyone has had a horse with this - or maybe knows of one. He had x-rays and ultrasounds but nothing was seen except that the shoulder does not look normal. They are suggesting arthroscopy as the next step. I am wondering whether this will do anything especially as they didn't see anything in the joint, but is it worth doing just as a further diagnostic step? One theory is that scraping the cartilage out will stimulate healthy cartilage to grow. I guess I am just wondering if this is something that actually ever gets better. The vet said she knew of one case only and that horse did get better after "awhile" but she did say he wasn't as lame as my colt. I guess I just want to know of more cases and how they turned out.
