Re: [RC] Horse fun - Karen Lynd

When I was a kid I boarded my horse with some people who were really into running barrels.  Their daughter's horse held the Canadian pole bending championship title.  That mare would run barrels out in the pasture all by herself.  She was definitely having fun.

My Quarter Horse mare used to play tag with a black lab / doberman pinscher mix.  They would chase each other for long periods of time almost every day.  They were also clearly having fun.

My daughters first pony(don't know what type) was truly a "back yard" pony. His name was Buck and he came by the name honestly. He used to "play" with the neighbors German shepherd. They would be on opposite sides of the cyclone fence and the pony would paw at the fence and try to nip the dog and the dog would bark and try to nip the pony and after a few minutes of the back and forth play Buck would take off and run full speed around the 1 acre back yard a couple of times and return to the fence to play with the dog. It was fun for us to watch from the back deck and it sure looked like he was having fun. My horse would play tag with my wife's Great Dane in the pasture with one chasing the other alternately until one or both tired out. Yeah, I think horses have fun.
