An excellent point.  I can do my own rasping if I need to.

These boots are really just for when he's barefoot during mud season (and
probably to carry in case we lose a shoe on trail, although I've never carried
one before).  I don't expect him to wear them more than one 6-8 week period
each fall and spring.

I think that a lot of the folks using the boots full time are doing a lot of
their own trimming and rasping.
