Re: [RC] [RC] [RC] fly control suggestions - Lynne Glazer

Stinky bags = attractant in water.? Blech.? The instructions say hang 'em about 3 feet from the ground, so we do.? But we don't need fly spray, unlike when I boarded in Norco where fly control (as well as manure control) was sporadic.? If I had one that stomped their feet all day, I'd invest in those leg shield thingies too.?

My horses also prefer not to have fly masks.? I had an older TWH that had to have 'em, but no horses since like that.? I offered them the choice. And now with the predators for the last few years, it's even less of an issue.? I spray their legs in a wet year when we're going some place with a known gnat problem, and around their ears too.? And mine, hate those things.

What "stinky bags hung 3 ft. above ground?"? I've used the predators over 5 years.? They add to the general protection but it's not like I don't use fly spray daily.? I also hang those fly traps with the smelly attractant and, last year, picked up 4 of those leg shields with velcro for my mare who spends all day stomping her feet--THAT was a good investment of $25--they're still in OK shape for this season.? It's a tough problem.
