[RC] Cougars Clown - Steve Shaw

Bernice had a mare, Nokomus, that she got from New Mexico and she rode it before she ever did any endurance. It was off the Apache Indian Reservation there. The indians would cull the colts and put out an Appy stallion for the mustang mares. This mare was bred out of a mustang and by an Appy Stallion. It was registered as an Indian Pony and as an Appy.

Bernice rode it all over and one day came across Boyd Zontelli in the Malibu Mtns. He told her about endurance rides and she started doing them with this mare. And did them well. She bred the mare to Cougar Rock and the get was Cougars Clown! She sold Clown to Sabine and I got Clown when she was about 10 years old.

Clown did well in both endurance and ride and tie. She picked up RAT quickly. After being tied she would turn down the trail looking for the back runner to show up. With her distinctive harlequin blaze she was easy to spot. What a great uphill trot she still has!
